A full-height media wall

This Putney project uses dark timber cabinetry across the full wall, combining the television, display shelving and concealed storage within one fitted composition.

The central television is framed by vertical and horizontal cabinet lines, while illuminated niches break up the darker finish and provide dedicated display areas.

The demanding part: maintaining the grid

A wall-scale media unit creates many visible reference lines. Door joints, shelf edges and the television opening all need to remain aligned so the elevation reads as one controlled piece of furniture.

The darker finish makes the illuminated sections especially prominent, which increases the importance of consistent spacing around each niche.

Integrated lighting and display

Warm lighting is built into the side display compartments, giving decorative objects a clear focal point and adding depth to the media wall.

The close-up photograph shows how the light is contained within the shelf recess, keeping the technical element visually discreet.

Storage without visual clutter

The lower cabinetry provides concealed storage beneath the television and display sections. This allows the room to retain a clean appearance while keeping everyday items out of view.

The overall arrangement balances open display areas with closed storage rather than filling the wall entirely with one type of cabinetry.

The finished result

The completed unit combines media, display and storage functions in a dark architectural composition that remains integrated with the wider living and dining area.
