An asymmetrical media composition

This Dubai project uses a series of floating and wall-mounted elements rather than one solid full-wall cabinet. The television sits within an asymmetrical arrangement of horizontal storage, shelves and a taller vertical cabinet.

The composition is deliberately light in appearance, with open wall areas separating the individual cabinet forms.

The demanding part: aligning separate floating elements

When the furniture is divided into several independent pieces, alignment becomes especially important. Shelf levels, cabinet bottoms and the television zone need to relate visually even though they are not physically joined into one continuous carcass.

The stepped arrangement also means that small inconsistencies in height or projection would be easy to see across the finished elevation.

Concealed storage behind a minimal exterior

The detail photographs show drop-down storage and a taller enclosed cabinet behind the clean outer fronts. This gives the media unit useful concealed capacity without making the overall composition appear visually heavy.

The internal fittings allow doors to open cleanly while preserving the flush external geometry when closed.

Texture and edge detailing

Close views show the subtle grain and texture across the light grey finish, together with the junctions between the top, front and side surfaces.

Because the design is simple and handle-light, the accuracy of these edges and the relationship between adjoining faces becomes a major part of the finished appearance.

The finished result

The completed media composition combines television, display and concealed storage functions within a light, floating arrangement. The asymmetry gives the piece visual character while the restrained finish keeps the overall result calm.
